Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of the CodeInScore platform. Please read them carefully — they define your rights and responsibilities as a user.
Plain-language summary
Use CodeInScore fairly and honestly. Keep your account secure. Don't game scores or scrape data. We'll provide reliable service, keep improving, and respect your data. If something goes wrong, we'll work together to resolve it. This summary is for convenience — the full terms below are what's legally binding.
1. Acceptance of Terms
Agreement
By accessing or using CodeInScore ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you are using the Platform on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these terms.
Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years of age to use CodeInScore. If you are under 18, you must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian. By using the Platform, you represent and warrant that you meet these eligibility requirements.
Modifications
We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Material changes will be communicated via email and in-app notification at least 30 days in advance. Your continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
2. User Accounts
Account Creation
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration.
Account Types
CodeInScore offers Developer accounts (for individual developers) and Recruiter accounts (for talent acquisition professionals and organizations). Each account type has specific features, permissions, and obligations as described in our documentation.
Account Security
You must immediately notify CodeInScore of any unauthorized use of your account or any other security breach. We are not liable for any loss arising from unauthorized use of your account credentials.
3. Platform Usage
Developer Services
The Platform provides code analysis, developer signal scoring, capability assessments, career roadmap tools, and job matching services. Scores and assessments are generated algorithmically and should be considered informational guidance, not absolute measures of capability.
Recruiter Services
Recruiter accounts may access developer profiles, post job listings, search talent databases, and use messaging tools to communicate with developers. All recruiter activities must comply with applicable employment laws and anti-discrimination regulations.
API Usage
Access to the CodeInScore API is governed by rate limits and usage quotas as specified in your plan. You may not use the API to scrape, replicate, or build a competing service. API keys are confidential and must not be shared or exposed in client-side code.
Fair Use
You agree to use the Platform in a manner consistent with its intended purpose. Automated bulk access, credential sharing across organizations, and circumventing usage limits are prohibited.
4. Intellectual Property
Our IP
The CodeInScore platform, including its scoring algorithms, user interface design, branding, and documentation, is owned by CodeInScore and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the Platform.
Your Content
You retain ownership of any content you submit to the Platform (profile information, job postings, messages). By submitting content, you grant CodeInScore a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, process, and display that content as necessary to provide the Platform services.
Open Source Code
When we analyze publicly available code repositories, we respect the licensing terms of those repositories. Our analysis generates derivative metrics and scores, not copies of the underlying code. We do not claim any ownership over analyzed codebases.
5. Payments & Subscriptions
Pricing
Some features of CodeInScore require a paid subscription. Prices are listed on our pricing page and may change with 30 days' notice. Price changes do not apply to the current billing period.
Billing
Subscriptions are billed on a recurring monthly or annual basis, depending on your selected plan. Payment is processed through Stripe, and you agree to keep your payment information current. Failed payments may result in service interruption.
Refunds
Annual subscriptions are eligible for a full refund within 14 days of purchase if you have not used premium features extensively. Monthly subscriptions are non-refundable. Contact billing@codeinscore.com for refund requests.
6. Prohibited Conduct
You May Not
Use the Platform to harass, discriminate against, or harm any person; submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information; attempt to manipulate or game developer scores; use automated tools to scrape data or create fake accounts; violate any applicable law or regulation; or interfere with the security or integrity of the Platform.
Recruiter-Specific Restrictions
Recruiters may not use developer data obtained through CodeInScore for any purpose other than legitimate talent acquisition. Sharing candidate data with unauthorized third parties, discriminatory filtering practices, and misrepresenting job opportunities are strictly prohibited.
Enforcement
We reserve the right to investigate violations, suspend or terminate accounts, remove content, and take any other action we deem appropriate. Serious violations may be reported to law enforcement.
7. Disclaimers & Limitations
Service Availability
The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available." We make no guarantees regarding uptime, accuracy of scores, or fitness for a particular purpose. While we strive for high availability, scheduled maintenance and unforeseen outages may occur.
Score Accuracy
Developer capability scores are algorithmic assessments based on available data. They do not constitute professional evaluations, certifications, or guarantees of developer competency. Hiring decisions should consider multiple factors beyond CodeInScore metrics.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CodeInScore shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or revenue arising from your use of the Platform.
8. Termination
By You
You may close your account at any time through your profile settings. Upon closure, your personal data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Active subscriptions will not be prorated.
By CodeInScore
We may suspend or terminate your account for violations of these terms, non-payment, extended inactivity (12+ months), or at our sole discretion with 30 days' notice. We will make reasonable efforts to allow data export before termination.
Survival
Sections relating to intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law survive termination of these terms.
9. Governing Law & Disputes
Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Dispute Resolution
Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Platform shall first be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If negotiation fails, disputes will be submitted to binding arbitration under the rules of the American Arbitration Association.
Class Action Waiver
You agree to resolve disputes on an individual basis and waive any right to participate in class-action lawsuits or class-wide arbitration.
